A brow lift corrects the sagging or low position of the eyebrows, softens horizontal creases across the forehead, erases the worried or angry expression that can result from frown lines, and opens the space between the upper eyelids and eye brows. The outcome is a more relaxed and refreshed appearance.

Dallas plastic surgeon, Dr. Hackney offers two different techniques for the brow lift: the open brow lift and the endoscopic brow lift. With the open brow lift the incision is made across the top of the scalp and is concealed in the hair. Sometimes it is necessary to make the incision at the front of the hairline so as not to raise the hairline in someone who has a high hairline, but it is designed to be inconspicuous when healed. Working through this incision, Dr. Hackney can treat muscles that cause the transverse forehead lines and the frown lines, remove excess skin and raise your brows to a more pleasing level.

In some patients, an endoscopic brow lift technique can be used. An endoscope, which is a long thin tube with a light and video camera on the end, is inserted through three small incisions in the scalp. This allows Dr. Hackney to see and work on the muscles and raise the brows. The advantages of the endoscopic brow lift are it limits the length of the scar and reduces some of the numbness of the scalp that occurs when the incision is made across the top the scalp.  
Which type of brow lift is best for you?  This depends on several things, such as the laxity of your skin, how much your brow needs to be lifted and if the inner, outer both parts of the brows need to be lifted.  It may also depend if you are having a facelift or eyelid lift at the same time.  During your consult with Dr. Hackney he will recommend which type of brow lift is best for you.
After surgery, your forehead will be swollen, but there is very little bruising. You can shampoo your hair after two days and sutures or staples will be removed 7 to 10 days after brow lift surgery. You may return to your usual activities as you feel better, which is often in a week or less.
