TCA Peel
A chemical peel is a non-invasive technique for restoring wrinkled, blemished, unevenly pigmented, or sun-damaged facial skin, using a chemical solution to peel away the skin's top layers. During the healing process, new cells form producing a smoother, tighter, younger-looking skin surface. A chemical peel is not a substitute for a facelift. It does not eliminate sagging or excess skin, but many people can benefit from both procedures.
Dr. Hackney performs the TCA peel, which is used to treat fine surface wrinkles, superficial blemishes or pigment problems. The depth of the peel can be adjusted according to the patient's needs and it can be used on the neck, chest, and hands. Also because TCA peels produce less bleaching than other peels, they may be preferred for darker-skinned patients and for peels of isolated areas of the face. TCA peels can be, and often are, repeated regularly.
Prior to your peel you will be put on a Retin-A program and a skin bleaching cream for several weeks. Before your procedure you will be given prescriptions for pain medication as well as something to help you relax. Since you will be medicated it will be necessary to have someone drive you to and from our office. A TCA peel can be performed in the office.
The TCA peel has a recovery time of 7 to 10 days. You will look like you have a severe sunburn. Your skin will change from red to brown followed by peeling, revealing new pink skin. It may stay pink for several weeks, but you can apply makeup when the peeling is completed. You can take pain medication for the discomfort and will keep your face coated with ointment to keep it lubricated.
Your face will be swollen and you will need someone to care for you for the first day or two. Dr. Hackney will check you a few days after surgery and you will be given very specific instructions to follow during the first few weeks. After TCA peel, it is important that sunscreen becomes a part of your daily skin care routine.

Dermabrasion
Dermabrasion resurfaces the skin by removing the superficial layer of the skin with a high-speed rotary wheel. This smoothes irregularities in the skin and is used to treat fine wrinkles and scars from injuries or acne. It is also the preferred treatment for wrinkles around the mouth, the so called "lip stick lines." If you have any of these conditions, dermabrasion may be right for you.
Dermabrasion can be done on a small area or the entire face. It can be done in conjunction with other procedures, such as a facelift. If the procedure is not combined with other procedures and is done alone, Dr. Hackney will perform the dermabrasion in his office with local anesthesia.
It is important to recognize the difference between dermabrasion performed by a physician and microdermabrasion performed by a skin care specialist, such as an aesthetician. Microdermabrasion is a skin-revitalizing treatment, which reduces age spots, and sun damaged areas and freshens the skin. Microdermabrasion does not remove the deeper imperfections in the skin, like dermabrasion performed by Dr. Hackney.

Fat Injections
In the normal process of aging, fat is redistributed to areas such as the abdomen, thighs, and buttocks and is taken away from areas such as the face and hands. Because of this redistribution and loss of fat, you may appear older than you actually are. By replenishing the lost fat, a more youthful look can be achieved.
Fat grafting fills facial features with a patient's own fat. The fat used for fat transfer is extracted from part of your body like the abdomen or thighs and injected into another area that requires plumping.
The fat is processed and re-injected into the area using a fine needle and syringe. The most common areas of fat graft placement are the lips and the nasal-labial fold lines of the face (the cheek fold between the nose and corner of the mouth). Other areas that fat graft can be injected are the cheeks, scar depressions, irregularities, or to re-contour the face or body.

Restylane
This amazing soft tissue filler is used to fill in lines and plump out folds around the mouth and lips, as well as other deep wrinkles and frown lines on the face. Using crystal-clear hyaluronic acid, Restylane instantly fills in the smile and frown lines around the mouth and on the forehead, and can even plump the lips to a more desired fullness!
Restylane is the first FDA approved soft tissue filler made of biodegradable non-animal stabilized hyaluronic acid, and as such does not require a skin test before treatment. It is not permanent, but may last for 6 months or longer, which is considerable longer than the previously commonly used bovine collagen. Restylane has been safely used in Europe and Canada for years. Restylane requires local anesthesia (numbing medicine) to be comfortable when injected around the mouth. Dr. Hackney's previous training as dentist allows him to give his patients near painless dental injections before hand to ensure they are comfortable during the procedure.

Radiesse™
Radiesse™ is the newest non-surgical facial contouring filler that delivers an immediate, longer lasting result. Radiesse is made of very tiny, smooth calcium hydroxylapatite (CaHA) microspheres. The microspheres (particles) form a scaffold through which your body’s own collagen grows, and this produces the desired long-term effect. For the first three months after injection, Radiesse initially performs as a filler substance by plumping up the skin. Then thanks to its collagen-generating properties, Radiesse actually stimulates new tissue development for extended correction for up to 12 to 24 months.
Radiesse can be used to treat deep wrinkles in the cheek folds and between the eyebrows. It can also be used to highlight facial features such as the cheekbones. Radiesse is an ideal filler for adding volume to cheeks because it can be used to treat large surface areas in one procedure.
During your consultation, Dr. Hackney will examine your skin and discuss how Radiesse treatment can enhance the contour and shape of your face to restore a healthy and vital appearance. Since no skin-testing is required, you can receive treatment the same day.
After a thorough cleansing of the area to be treated, Radiesse will be injected under the skin in a continuous stream through a very fine needle into the appropriate facial planes needed for augmentation and contouring.
As a non-surgical approach, Radiesse treatment involves a simple in-office procedure that can be completed quickly and conveniently. Typically, you will see some mild swelling or redness at the injection sites that may last 1-2 days. In most cases, you can return to your routine activities immediately following the procedure.

BOTOX®
BOTOX® is a natural, purified protein, which blocks nerve impulses to the muscles that cause wrinkles. When we frown, the skin is gathered into a fold causing a chronic furrow or wrinkle. When BOTOX® is injected into the muscles, they relax, and the skin that lies over these muscles smoothes out. BOTOX® can be used for the horizontal frown lines in the forehead, frown lines between the eyes, the "crows feet" around the eyes, and necklines and bands.
It takes the BOTOX® three to seven days to work, and will last for three to four months. Repeat treatments will be necessary to maintain the desired results. You may have some bruising and redness at the injection sites, but this resolves within two to three days. You may cover these areas with makeup.
Dr. Hackney has developed a special numbing cream that is applied to the skin before the BOTOX® is injected. Our office has found this to provide more numbing of the skin than prescription or over the counter creams. If more numbing of the skin is needed, ice is applied to the skin with the cream.
Dr. Hackney offers BOTOX® Days every month. These days are devoted to giving our patients quality BOTOX® treatments with exceptional value. Please contact our office to schedule an appointment.
